Sedgemoor Business Conference

Sedgemoor District Council is already taking bookings for its popular Annual Business Conference that this year promises to be as thought provoking as ever with its focus on Sedgemoor the place and the opportunities it offers for growth and inward investment. To be held at the McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater on November 30, there is a packed agenda with speakers from inside and outside the District and from local and national organisations as well as plenty of chances to network. 08/10/18


Sedgemoor offers grants to small businesses affected by Hinkley Point C traffic

Sedgemoor businesses affected by an increase in construction traffic travelling to and from the site of Hinkley Point C are being offered the chance to apply for grants aimed at helping them respond to any challenges caused.The fund, run by Sedgemoor District Council, will be a competitive process where businesses will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis and will have to meet a range of criteria to have a chance of receiving any funding. 08/10/18


Let there be light (s) - Bridgwater Town Bridge

Bridgwater Town Bridge will now be lit up on a nightly basis from this evening after the final commissioning and design tweaks for the 25 plus lighting designs.The lights will now come on automatically at about ten minutes before sunset each night and there are bespoke designs for each season and for special occasions, including carnival, Christmas and New Year. 05/10/18


Have you completed your Voter Registration form??

All households across Sedgemoor will have received an annual voter registration form within the past month. Although there has been a good response rate, many people have not yet confirmed their details, despite it being a legal requirement for SDC to collect the information. 03/10/18


Boxing match costs £6,500 fine

Sedgemoor District Council has prosecuted Latona Leisure Ltd trading as the Webbington Hotel and Spa at Loxton in Somerset following a report in the local media of a fight amongst the audience at a boxing event held at the Webbington Hotel on Saturday, 18 November 2017. The case was heard at North Somerset Magistrates Court today (28th September) and the Company, following a guilty plea, was fined £6,500 and Sedgemoor District Council was awarded £749 costs. 1/10/18


Budget consultation

Sedgemoor District Council wants residents to have their say on how Sedgemoor District Council should spend its proportion of the Council Tax in its annual budget consultation. The budget cycle in Sedgemoor starts now, with the final decisions on budgets are taken in mid-February 2019. 07/09/18


Results of the Cheddar Neighbourhood Plan referendum

The Cheddar Neighbourhood Plan referendum asked voters the question, "Do you want Sedgemoor District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Cheddar to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area? 31/08/18


Have your say on our Licensing Policy

There is a requirement for Sedgemoor District Council to review its Statement of Licensing Policy every five years. The Policy document sets out our approach to the Council's licensing functions in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003. 10/08/18


Treasure Hunt in Apex Park

The Friends of Apex Park are inviting families to Apex Park to take part in a free, children's Treasure Hunt during the school holidays. The Treasure Hunt will take place on Wednesday 22nd August between 1100 hrs and 1300 hrs at Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park, Marine Drive, Burnham-on-Sea, TA8 3YY 02/08/18


Council takes steps to acquire land for vital link road to a 222-acre commercial development site

The link road will facilitate the redevelopment of the site, which upon completion, is expected to create 4000 jobs. Sedgemoor District Council has begun the legal processes to acquire land, required for a link road to serve the much-anticipated Huntspill Energy Park at Puriton, either by agreement or through using its powers of compulsory purchase. 09/10/18
