Sedgemoor District Council are reminding residents that there are no planned ordinary elections in Sedgemoor this May.
However, do make sure that you are on the electoral register - contact your local council or go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
The Secretary of State has appointed Inspector Susan Heywood BSc (Hons) MCD MRTPI from the Planning Inspectorate to carry out an independent Examination of the Sedgemoor Local Plan. She will consider whether or not the Local Plan is 'sound', based on the criteria set out in paragraph 182 of the National Planning Policy Framework. Inspector Sue Heywood has taken over the examination from Inspector Andrew Seaman.
The Local Plan will be considered 'sound' if the Inspector concludes that it is:
The Inspector will also consider whether the Local Plan has been prepared in accordance with the Duty to Cooperate and whether it meets the requisite legal and procedural requirements. In order to do so, the Inspector will assess the Local Plan, the evidence base on which it was created, as well as all of the representations submitted during the consultation phases.

The examination is a continuous process running from the submission through to receipt of the Inspector's report. Part of the process will involve public examination hearings where those invited to attend by the Planning Inspector will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised by the inspector. Once the programme for examination is confirmed, including the dates of the public examination hearings, details will be made available on this page.
