Clean Surroundings carry out a wide range of grass cutting services throughout the growing season. In recent years the season has increased, and now regularly extends from mid-February to the end of November.
Grass cutting services are typically carried out in the following locations:
- council parks and gardens
- public open spaces
- sports fields and pitches
- closed churchyards
- urban highway verges (on behalf of Somerset County Council)
Roadside Grass Verge Maintenance
Grass verge maintenance in rural area is carried out by Somerset County Council - Highways.
Vehicles parked on roadside verges are reported to the Enforcement Team, and where appropriate to the DVLA. Owners of vehicles will receive a warning letter, and if the vehicle is promptly removed no further action is taken. Those that ignore warning letters may face prosecution. For further information please see Abandoned Vehicles.
Other Maintenance Services
Generally most grassed areas are cut up to 10 times a year. However growing conditions such as drought, heavy rain, or access problems such as roadworks will affect the programme. For the latest information regarding the grass cutting programmes contact Clean Surroundings.
