Street Collection Licence


This page contains information on obtaining a permit to undertake charitable collections.

To reduce the risk of crime by fraud, no collection in any locality for a charitable purpose may be made unless the promoter holds a permit issued by the Licensing Authority for the area where the collection(s) are to be made, and the collectors are authorised by the promoter.

Sedgemoor District Council is the Licensing Authority for this District and issues permits for both Street Collections and for House to House Collections. The legislation governing this activity is the Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916 and Local Government Act 1972. Please note that only registered charities can apply for a Street Collection Licence.

Fee: There is no fee for a Street Collection Licence.
