Flexercise is a countywide initiative promoting physical and mental health and wellbeing through chair based activity.
It was originally designed to benefit older people who live in nursing homes, residential homes or sheltered housing as well as older people attending day centres. However it is now also used within Somerset Active Living Centres and for people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and those in rehabilitation after a stroke.
Sedgemoor District Council supports Flexercise training workshops for:
Residential and nursing home staff
Day centre staff
Active Living volunteers
Sheltered housing staff
Members of the public
Workshops cover the theory of Flexercise, activities with and without equipment, the benefits of activity, health and safety guidelines and lots of practical elements focusing on the delivery of Flexercise.
