Christmas and New Year in Sedgemoor

Sedgemoor District Council will remain open for business as usual during the holiday period on all days except bank holidays.

Rubbish and recycling collections will be two days later from Monday 25th to Friday 29th December, and one day later between Monday 1st to Friday 5th January. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of Sedgemoor District Council's residents, staff and councillors a very happy Christmas and a healthy New Year. During the short time that I have been Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, I have met many wonderful people, many who dedicate themselves to helping others in all walks of life, by giving freely of their time or money: they are truly an inspiration to all of us. Most of all, I truly hope that 2018 will be a peaceful year for all the peoples of the world. 07/12/17


Somerset Success Celebrated At Sedgemoor Business Conference

By working together Somerset businesses can achieve at world level. That was the clear message to emerge from the Sedgemoor Business Conference at the McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater attended by more than 100 delegates from small and large businesses. 5/12/17


Planning Consent for Somerset development site, Bridgwater

Sedgemoor District Council have granted planning consent for the site currently known as Huntspill Energy Park, sold last month to Salamanca Group from BAE Systems. 30/11/17


Sedgemoor's help for small businesses

Sedgemoor District Council has awarded almost £38,000, divided between ten local businesses, in the first round of its Small Business Grant Funding. 27/11/17


Community Grants from Sedgemoor

Community groups across the district will benefit from nearly £28,550 of grant funding, thanks to awards given out by Sedgemoor District Council. Othery Village Hall received a grant of £8,500 to build a storage room for table and chairs to replace a tin shack that had to be accessed from outside. The area was officially opened when the Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, Councillor Mike Cresswell handed over a plaque to Pat Adamson Chairman of the Village Hall Management Committee. 27/11/17

Free chips for dogs

Compulsory micro chipping for dogs became law in April 2016. Recent figures reveal that over 94% of the nation's 8.5 million dogs are micro chipped, but it is still estimated that there are around 500,000 irresponsible dog owners breaking the law by not getting their dog chipped.

Sedgemoor District Council has managed to secure a limited supply of 'woodland mix' spring bulbs for Parish and Town Councils as well as Community groups to plant themselves, to help maintain Sedgemoor's beautiful countryside. 23/10/17
