Checking out Gaming Machines

With safeguarding of children in mind along with the summer tourist season, Sedgemoor District Council's Licensing Team have teamed up with a colleague from the Gambling Commission to begin a programme of visits to premises licensed for the retail sale/ supply of alcohol (such as pubs, clubs and bars) with a view to monitoring the use of Gaming Machines. 25/06/18

Bridgwater Retail Park extension creating jobs before it opens

Sedgemoor District Council has welcomed news that the company behind the construction of the extension to Bridgwater Retail Park and the new road that will allow access to it from The Drove as well as The Clink, is performing well under the Local Labour Agreement signed when planning permission was granted. 07/06/18

Community Grants

A new round of grant funding is now open from Sedgemoor District Council. Grants of up to £500 are aimed at helping people to undertake projects such as volunteering or learning new skills that will be of benefit to their local community. 29/05/18

Consultation on Gambling Policy

Sedgemoor District Council has to review its Gambling Policy every three years. The Policy document sets out our approach to the Council's licensing functions in accordance with the Gambling Act 2005. 11/05/18

Planning Consent for Somerset development site, Bridgwater

Sedgemoor District Council have granted planning consent for the site currently known as Huntspill Energy Park, sold last month to Salamanca Group from BAE Systems. 30/11/17

Free chips for dogs

Compulsory micro chipping for dogs became law in April 2016. Recent figures reveal that over 94% of the nation's 8.5 million dogs are micro chipped, but it is still estimated that there are around 500,000 irresponsible dog owners breaking the law by not getting their dog chipped.

Sedgemoor District Council has managed to secure a limited supply of 'woodland mix' spring bulbs for Parish and Town Councils as well as Community groups to plant themselves, to help maintain Sedgemoor's beautiful countryside. 23/10/17

NDR Community Impact Mitigation Fund (CIM) Bid

Sedgemoor District Council will be hosting a 'drop in' consultation event where members of the public are welcome anytime between 3.00pm and 6.00pm on Wednesday 28th March at St George's Hall, Kendale Road, Bridgwater, TA6 3QE. The Council wants to find out your views on how to encourage use of local (doorstep) leisure facilities (including the Town Centre) to reduce the need to travel further afield by vehicle and therefore reduce congestion on local roads. 22/03/18
