The Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Area Neighbourhood Plan referendum asked voters the question, "Do you want Sedgemoor District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area? 19/09/18


Apex Park Lake

All users of Apex Park lake are reminded that the levels of Blue Green algae are still over the threshold for safe use of the lake (confirmed on 14th September). All guidance/signage should still be followed which also includes a restriction on any permit holders for model boat use. 18/09/18


Together Team is three years old!

The Together Team - East Bridgwater was three years old on September 15th. It is a multi-agency partnership tackling social and economic deprivation and encouraging community pride. The Together Team East Bridgwater recently featured at an International conference in Canada and the operating model was hailed as excellent practice. 18/09/18


New rules for Houses in Multiple Occupation

Changes in Government legislation will see the requirement to licence a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) widened to include two storey properties. From Monday 1st October 2018, all privately rented properties which are occupied by five or more people who form two or more households will now require a licence. 11/09/18


Free bulbs for community groups

Sedgemoor District Council are offering Parish and Town Councils as well as Community groups free bulbs to plant themselves, in order to make Sedgemoor even more beautiful. 11/09/18


Loan to Mecure Hotel, Bridgwater

Like local authorities around the country, Sedgemoor District Council has been looking at ways of generating income; set against the context of reducing funding coming to local government from the national Government. It is also committed to keeping its portion of the council tax as low as possible whilst still delivering first-class services to its residents. One of the ways in which SDC can generate money is by lending money for projects that have benefits to the regeneration of the area and the wider community. 07/09/18

The experts at Keep Britain Tidy have had their say and in July and both Marine Cove Gardens and Apex Park Leisure and Wildlife Park and Marine Cove Gardens were awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award. 07/09/18


Budget consultation

Sedgemoor District Council wants residents to have their say on how Sedgemoor District Council should spend its proportion of the Council Tax in its annual budget consultation. The budget cycle in Sedgemoor starts now, with the final decisions on budgets are taken in mid-February 2019. 07/09/18

Have your say on our Licensing Policy

There is a requirement for Sedgemoor District Council to review its Statement of Licensing Policy every five years. The Policy document sets out our approach to the Council's licensing functions in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003. 10/08/18


Treasure Hunt in Apex Park

The Friends of Apex Park are inviting families to Apex Park to take part in a free, children's Treasure Hunt during the school holidays.
