Development Management Planning Guidance
Development Management works on behalf of local people to protect, enhance and develop the environment, for now and for the future. Our roles cover most aspects of planning from building an extension on your house to major housing or individual developments.
-
Local Development Framework
The local development framework (LDF) sets out the Council's policies for managing and controlling development and the use of land. The Local Development Framework will replace the Local Plan which is currently used to guide development in the District, from large housing estates and employment sites to individual extensions and conservatories. It will be one of the main ways in which the Council's vision for the next twenty years is translated into deliverable policies, helping to boost the local economy, provide jobs and good quality housing for all, as well as helping to provide for future health, education, social and energy needs.

Building Control
Building Control is a statutory service, which looks after the built environment. We carry out a health and safety function, in that we ensure building works carried out are structurally sound, moisture resistant, adequately insulated. We cover works as diverse as the installation of a boiler or removal of chimneybreast to the erection of multi million pound projects. We are also charged with investigating, and if necessary making safe existing structures that are an immediate danger to the public.
