Street Collection Licence

This page contains information on obtaining a permit to undertake charitable collections.

To reduce the risk of crime by fraud, no collection in any locality for a charitable purpose may be made unless the promoter holds a permit issued by the Licensing Authority for the area where the collection(s) are to be made, and the collectors are authorised by the promoter.

The legislation governing this activity is the Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916 and Local Government Act 1972.
