This page contains summary details of all recent applications made to the licensing authority under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, for new Premises Licences, or variations or reviews of existing licences.

Recent applications - Licensing Act 2003

Anyone can comment on a licensing application. There is no definition of "other person", however the representations must be relevant to the application and relate to one or more of these four licensing objectives:-

1. The prevention of crime and disorder
2. Public safety
3. The prevention of Public nuisance
4. The protection of children from harm

Applications for a new Premises Licence:

Travelodge Burnham on Sea, Isleport Business Park, Highbridge, TA9 4PW

Application has been received from Travelodge Hotels Limited, for a new Premises licence for: Travelodge Burnham On Sea, Isleport Business Park, Highbridge, Somerset, TA9 4PW.The applicant is seeking to provide: Sale/ supply of alcohol:- 00.00hrs to 24.00hrs (Daily) and Late Night Refreshment: 23.00 hrs to 05.00hrs (Daily). Applications for a Full variation to a Premises Licence:

Application has been received from Young & Co.'s Brewery PLC for a full Variation to the Premises licence for: Dunstan House Inn 8, Love Lane, Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset TA8 1EU. The applicants are seeking to provide: To vary the Layout of the premises including extending the licensable area within the external car park and adding seating, a garden Bar and a Burger shack hut. To the left side of the external area new double doors leading into the garden will be introduced. The applicants are seeking to provide: Alterations to the premises including fixed seating to the trade area and removal of the existing raised area. There are also alterations to back of house areas. Recent applications for new, or variations to, Premises Licences under the Gambling Act 2005 are shown below:

Interested Parties may make representations in respect of these applications, by the dates shown. An 'Interested Party' is a person or business in the immediate vicinity of the premises subject to the application, who would be directly affected by licensable activities on the premises.

Representation can only be accepted where they are relevant to one or more of the three licensing objectives

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime and disorder, or being used to support crime;
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way (generally addressed by the Gambling Commission); and
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling

Applications for a new Gambling Premises Licence:

Applications for a variation to a Gambling Premises Licence:

None at present.


The full application(s) can be viewed at Sedgemoor District Council Offices, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater TA6 3AR between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and between 9:00am and 4:30pm on Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
