Recent licence Applications under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005


This page contains summary details of all recent applications made to the licensing authority under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, for new Premises Licences, or variations or reviews of existing licences.

Recent applications - Licensing Act 2003

Anyone can comment on a licensing application. There is no definition of "other person", however the representations must be relevant to the application and relate to one or more of these four licensing objectives:-

1. The prevention of crime and disorder
2. Public safety
3. The prevention of Public nuisance
4. The protection of children from harm

Applications for a new Premises Licence:

Application has been received from Purplespoons Ltd for a NEW Premises Licence at The Purplespoon Café, George William Centre, Friarn Avenue, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3RF. The applicant has applied for sales of alcohol on/off the premises and for the provision of films from 08.00hrs to 00.00hrs (Daily). Application has been received from Ritz Social Club for a New Premises licence for Ritz Social Club, 24, Victoria Street, Burnham On Sea, Somerset TA8 1AN. This is an Application for a New Premises Licence which will replace the current Club Premises Certificate. The applicant is seeking authorisation for the provision for the Sale/Supply of Alcohol, Live Music, Recorded Music & Performance of Dance from 10.00hrs to Midnight (Sunday - Wed) & 10.00hrs to 02.00hrs (Thurs - Sat) . The Applicant is also seeking10.00hrs to 02.00hrs on Bank Holidays, Carnival nights, Christmas Eve and New Year's Day and to Supply Late Night Refreshment 23.00hrs to 02.00hrs (Daily). The applicants have applied for Sales of alcohol off the premises only from 06.00hrs to 20.00hrs (Daily). Recent applications for new, or variations to, Premises Licences under the Gambling Act 2005 are shown below:

Interested Parties may make representations in respect of these applications, by the dates shown. An 'Interested Party' is a person or business in the immediate vicinity of the premises subject to the application, who would be directly affected by licensable activities on the premises.

Representation can only be accepted where they are relevant to one or more of the three licensing objectives

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime and disorder, or being used to support crime;
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way (generally addressed by the Gambling Commission); and
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling

Applications for a new Gambling Premises Licence:

None at present.

 

Applications for a variation to a Gambling Premises Licence:

None at present.


The full application(s) can be viewed at Sedgemoor District Council Offices, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater TA6 3AR between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and between 9:00am and 4:30pm on Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
