Sedgemoor's Development Partners


The following Housing Associations have partnered with Sedgemoor District Council to deliver new Affordable Housing across the Sedgemoor area. They are known as Registered Providers.

A new housing association created out of the merger of Jephson and Raglan with over 31,000 homes throughout the country providing general family housing, low-cost home ownership, housing for older people and housing for tenants with support needs.

Knightstone Housing Association

Knightstone Housing Association is a Registered Provider - whose business is managing and developing affordable homes. Part of the Arcadia Housing Group, a provider of affordable housing services in the south west for over 30 years, managing 10,800 homes, and delivering services to 23,000 tenants and leaseholders. Nectar Homes is the brand name for the home sale and management service provided by Knightstone Housing Association Ltd.

SHAL Housing Ltd

Bridgwater based SHAL provides affordable homes to rent across Sedgemoor. The largest provider of rented homes in the District after the Council, SHAL provides good quality homes and has a high level of tenant satisfaction with its services. SHAL sees itself as a community based organisation, working closely with Parish Councils and other community based groups, and buying goods and services from within the community. SHAL has its own workforce of skilled tradesmen.

Yarlington Housing Group

Yarlington Housing Group is a developing Housing Association with over 9,400 dwellings in Somerset, Dorset and Devon. Yarlington believe affordable housing is the key to economically and socially sustaining rural communities, -  without development of affordable housing many people are priced out of their community. Working closely with Local Authorities, Parish Councils and local residents to develop schemes that meet the need in the area, they are thus contributing to the development of thriving rural settlements.

South Western Housing Society

A small traditional housing association, owning and developing affordable homes in the south west region. Founded in 1944, the Society owns over 500 homes in the counties of Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. SWHS homes are mainly located in small market towns and villages. The Society is in the process of moving its offices from Worle to purpose built office accommodation in Sedgemoor.

Falcon Rural Housing Association

A small Housing Association that was created 24 years ago, by a group of individuals concerned about the lack of affordable housing for local people in villages.

Guinness Trust

Magna West Housing Association

A community-based housing association that works very closely with district and parish councils, statutory and voluntary agencies, and community groups in all areas of its activity. Part of the Magna Housing Group run by its Board with a high degree of local autonomy, Magna West currently own, lease, manage and repair nearly 2,200 homes across Somerset and Devon with just under 100 of these within Sedgemoor.
