Community and Neighbourhood Planning

This page gives details about the Neighbourhood Planning process. It also provides information about Village Design Statements and Parish Plans.

Neighbourhood Planning

The Government's recent Localism Act gives new powers to local communities to manage development in their area, including the ability to write 'Neighbourhood Plans', or development plans for a neighbourhood - a parish, town or part of an urban area.

Village Design Statements

"Village Design Statements" are a form of local planning guidance that the Countryside Agency (formerly Countryside Commission) has been actively encouraging for a number of years.

Parish Plans

A Parish Plan is a document that tackles important issues that will influence your neighbourhood in the future. Several parishes in the Sedgemoor area have developed a Parish Plan or are in the process of doing so.
