A Habitats Regulations Assessment is required for a plan or project that, either alone or in combination with other plans or projects, is likely to have a significant effect on the integrity of an international site, and that is not directly connected with the management of the site.
The preliminary report appraises the policy changes and the strategic housing and employment sites given in the Local Plan Consultation of the Review of Sedgemoor District Council's Core Strategy. This is with the aim of guiding the proposed submission Local Plan to formulate policy that is compliant with the provisions of the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 (the 'Habitats Regulations').
Habitat Regulations Assessment
The Habitat Regulations Assessment report details the findings of a Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) of the proposed submission Local Plan (Regulation 19 Consultation). As the 'competent authority' under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010, Sedgemoor District Council is required to assess its proposed submission Local Plan through the HRA process as policies in the plan can potentially affect Natura 2000 sites.
