Somerset County Council Elections

On 4th May 2017, Somerset County Council will be electing its entire council, here in Sedgemoor we will be electing across 12 divisions. You can find out all about the candidates and timetables as they are available.

Key dates for the County Council Elections on 4th May 2017 are:

  • 20th March 2017 - Publication of Notice of Election (this is also when the pre election period starts)
  • 4th April 2017 (4pm) - Receipt of nominations from candidates for potential election as County Councillor
  • 13th April 2017 - Last day to register to vote
  • 18th April 2017 (5pm) - Last day for new applications to vote by post or change any existing  absent vote details
  • 25th April 2017 - Notice of Poll published
  • 25th April 2017 (5pm) - Last day for new applications to vote by proxy
  • 4th May 2017 - Polling Day 7:00am - 10:00pm

To be eligible to vote in the County Council Elections you need to be:

  • 18+ years old on or before polling day
  • British, Irish, a European citizen or a Commonwealth citizen
