Support

Sedgemoor District Council is now in the position to support the local community into local jobs. Our Employment and Skills Workers are focusing on delivering support to individuals on their journey from unemployment into sustainable employment and independence. With exciting regeneration happening, we want to make sure that the whole community benefit from the opportunities that arise.

Support provided includes:

  • Assessment - A personal approach to find out how an individual would like help and find a way to work together.
  • Personal Development Plan - Organise a plan to develop areas such as Time Management, Presentation Skills, Assertiveness, Confidence, and Team Building. We use a variety of formats from 1:1 to group sessions, this will depend on your individual need.
  • Skills Development - We have good links with local training providers and will support you to access the course/training needed for your chosen employment path. We also offer Work Experience Opportunities to develop your skills.
  • Job Finding - Good links with local job clubs and other agencies, and with the EDF job brokerage. 1:1 support throughout this process.
  • Work Place Mentoring - We continue our help and support, even when you've found employment. We will organise 'Catch Up' sessions with you and your workplace mentor.
