Christmas and New Year in Sedgemoor

Sedgemoor District Council will remain open for business as usual during the holiday period on all days except bank holidays.

Rubbish and recycling collections will be two days later from Monday 25th to Friday 29th December, and one day later between Monday 1st to Friday 5th January. East of the A38 Development Brief and Design Principles


Sedgemoor District Council has produced a Development Brief and Design Principles document covering the area 'East of the A38, Bristol Road, Bridgwater', which was adopted by Sedgemoor's Full Council in July 2014.

The document focuses on land between the railway line to the east and residential properties along the A38 Bristol Road and includes the former Bridgwater cattle market site, playing pitches, Town Council and Carnival Clubs land as well as other private parcels of land. It is intended that a partnership approach will be developed to enable this land to be developed for a mix of uses to include houses, business, leisure, school and much improved facilities for Carnival Clubs.

Other significant issues, such as access to the area, need to be addressed and it is hoped that a comprehensive traffic solution will have other positive impacts for the town, in particular on the A38.

Consultation was carried out primarily with directly affected and interested landowners and other users such as the Allotment Society, adjacent residents on Bristol Road, Bath Road and Union Street, Carnival Clubs and other statutory consultees such as County Council and the Environment Agency. Responses were also received  from members of the general public and others.
